LOCUS conducts many skill development programs among students from various national level colleges which include seminars, talk programs, training courses, competitive programs and many more. The main highlight of LOCUS is its main event held within the college premises of Pulchowk Engineering College, IOE which includes various formal and informal events.
The LOCUS events are broadly classified into two categories:
1. Competitive
2. Non-competitive
This category includes competition on various topics and is further classified as:
Formal Events
These events are related to core hardware, software and electrical engineering practices. It includes the following events:Software Competition
This competition allows the participant to present their skills on topics of their interest in software.Hardware competition
In this competition participants are allowed to design the hardware projects in the area of their own interest.Electrical event competition
In this category, participants can research freely on any topic and implement their ideas and knowledge on the hardware that relate to electrical engineering field.Paper presentation
For paper presentation, the choice of subject matter is open to the students; however it must be related to technical field. For the competition, participants can present a paper on any research they have recently carried out. Any kind of project ideas which they couldn't convert into real projects can also presented in the form of papers or simulation models.Quiz competition
The quiz competition is fully based on technical questions and is designed to test the technical knowledge of participants in subjects related to information technology. The quiz contest will take place in the bachelor level and +2 inter college level separately with questions related to current and historical technical areas.Code Camp competition
A challenging opportunity for the programmers!In this competition participants are allowed to code on the basis of the theme given to them by the jury. They are allowed to use google searches and so on for a full day coding in any platform they want.
Locus is organizing a 'one-day' Coding Contest happening on the first day of Locus in collaboration with Yomari Inc. This is a theme based, on-the-spot coding competition in which individual students or at most a group of two can participate.
8 different topics have been disclosed, among which only 3 will be selected randomly on the day of the event. The participants are supposed to select any one of the three themes and build their application based on the theme.
Ethical Hacking competition
"Hackers are Here, Where are you"In this competition participants are challenged to hack any server provided to them but is considered to be totally ethical.
EC-Council ATC Nepal is organizing the first Ethical Hacking Competition in Nepal. The aspiring hackers should be at least 18 years of age. For event details, call EC-Council ATC Nepal @4102721or visit us at Pulchowk Campus day before the event for criteria and registration. Registration is free of cost.
Informal events
Informal events might be held during the LOCUS main event itself or may be held before the LOCUS main event. Some of the possible informal events are as follows:

-> Fastest Google Searching Competition
-> Coding Contest
-> Problem Solving Competition
-> Motorola Mobile Mania
Exhibition
The two day locus event consists of exhibition stalls from various firms, institute or organizations. Anyone from the professional or educational field who want to exhibit their projects or any other materials without being a part of any competitive event can also exhibit their presentation in the LOCUS event.
Exhibition from the electrical lab: micro hydro, transformers, peltric set, and power lab components.
Exhibition from the Robotics club: Robot demonstration
"One day Seminar/workshop on IT"
A workshop/seminar on information technology(IT) Services is scheduled for one day of the LOCUS 2010 technological festival this time dated 2011 July 23rd, Saturday.
The speakers for the workshop are renowned professionals, academician and senior government officials from the Government of Nepal.
